We have been such busy bees lately with school and work. I hardly feel like we have time to just "chill" anymore. But that's okay, we better get used to it before Bupley comes, huh?! For those of you who don't know, we are currently working at Mountain View Group Home, a home for 7 developmentally disabled adults. My parents are the current administrators, and we feel really lucky to have landed such a good (and somewhat easy, too...ssshhhh, don't tell) job. We get great benefits (health insurance - yeah!), and it has been fun to work for my parents. At first I wasn't sure it would be such a good idea, since working with family generally isn't as a rule of thumb, but it has really worked out wonderfully. Five nights a week we do the "sleepover" shift, which is when no other staff are there so we need to be there in case of emergencies, or to take them to the bathroom in the middle of the night. Then every morning for a couple of hours, we work in the group home helping the clients get ready for the day and doing chores around the house. The residents are all very sweet and it has been so much fun getting to know them. So, there's work for ya.
Other than that, we have just been working hard at school. This semester is kind of crazy with the work load (I honestly don't know what I was thinking deciding to be pregnant, working, and taking eighteen credits.) Oh well, we all learn our lessons don't we? Some of us decide to do it the hard way! My classes are all pretty interesting though, and I feel like I've finally been learning a lot, which doesn't seem to happen too often - not really sure why! Not sure I'll pull straight A's this semester, but you never know!
Baby Bupley is doing really well and growing big inside of me! She is so cute. We were thrilled to get that 3d or 4d (don't really know which is which) ultrasound the other day. The bad news about all these ultrasounds is that it means that things are less than perfect, so they have been monitoring her closely lately for the past couple of weeks. She is doing great, and passed her "biophysical test" today with flying colors - 8/8! The doctor said she was an overachiever. Looks like she's following in her parent's (at least her mom's - is that bragging?) footsteps.
So basically, long story short of what's going on is that there is something "not quite right" about my placenta. The doctor's exact words were "I've never seen this before," which is not something that is too pleasant to hear from the doctor's mouth - but it sounds like everything will be okay. My placenta just looks like it has a lot of blood clots in it - which is normal, but apparently I just have a lot! Lucky me! However, it doesn't seem to be affecting the baby thus far AT ALL, and for that we are very grateful. She is right on schedule with growth and movements and everything. So, for the next couple of weeks they are going to be doing some different tests - some blood tests to check for any kind of virus that could be causing this to happen, and then they are also hooking me up to a heart monitor to do an EKG, just to make sure that my heart is working the way it is supposed to. So, for right now, we still have no idea what exactly is going on, but I'm sure it will all be cleared up within the next few weeks. My doctor has been great and really concerned, and that is good to know. He sounds determined to really get to the bottom of this. I just am so grateful that our baby is so healthy and big and lively! The technician could barely get a clear picture of anything today because she was moving around so much - maybe THAT is what I should be worried about! Haha. I just worry about her so much all the time, and it is so reassuring to know that she is right where she should be in the developmental process. If you guys could just keep Baby Bupley in your prayers, I would so appreciate it!
Other than that, we have a full week ahead of us - blood tests, heart tests, dentists appointments (for Jason), and he is also getting his wisdom teeth pulled. So today he went to the dentist for the first time in six years and I thought for sure that he was going to have tons of cavities or something, and guess what? Zero! No cavities! I was so mad! Who just doesn't go to the dentist for that long, and then has no cavities? I'm telling you, he must have some pretty strong and durable teeth because it's not like he lays off the sweets or anything! Dang... lucky guy, but he was pretty proud. We'll see how the wisdom teeth pulling goes tomorrow. They are impacted, so I'm fairly certain he may be out of it for a few days. We shall see. Welp, I'm at work now, so can't post any pictures, but I will put some new ultrasound pictures on here as soon as I can. Just a warning though, they are NOT as cool as our 3d ones last week, but that's alright, we still caught her smiling in one of them. She looks like a cute little Jedi Knight, haha. Have a tremendous night everyone! Thanks for tuning in!
