The Heaney Visit

Well my sister Katelyn and her husband Kaden came to visit and we had so much fun with them. It was so great to see them and get to know Kaden a little bit better( although I think Katelyn got a little annoyed after an hour of talking about Star Wars and video games. Maybe she wished that we didn't have so much in common. JK) We went around and saw the sights around here, and Kaden's tainted crab legs notwithstanding, I think we all had a great time. It was fun to remeber old times and create new memories. We went down to Seattle and went to the top of the Space Needle and looked in peoples apartments from the viewing gallery. We walked around downtown and ogled at all the "punk-rock freaks". One of them kept snaping handcuffs open and shut. He looked like he was about to make a citizens arrest. It was fun for Reagan to meet her new aunt and uncle and we cant wait until we see them again.

Two Month Check Up

Today we took Reagan to her two month check up. She is doing great and is as healthy as can be. She weighs in at 14 lbs. 2 ounces and 24.5 inches! In other words, she is not only chubby but tall as well. Good for her. We'll just say that he enjoys feeding time. We had to do her two month vaccines as well, which equals out to three shots (a couple of them are combined), and a vaccine done orally (no, not a shot, that's what I thought at first and it freaked me out). She did pretty good. We gave her tylenol right after they weighed her, and she spit up all over me shortly thereafter, so I'm not too sure she even got any. Then, they did the oral rotavirus vaccine, during which she spit up again all over me...ALL over me...and then nurse. Haha, serves the nurse right. The nurse said that most infants like this particular vaccine, but she definitely did not. Poor girl. No crying, just funny faces. It's actually pretty fun to see her reaction to different tastes besides breast milk. Of course she cried a little right after the shots, but the nurse did them so fast, I was extremely grateful. You could tell this was not her first rodeo. She only cried for about thirty seconds and then fell asleep. She has been awake but sleepy most of the day, but is back to her cooing, smiling, sweet self. She's a trooper.

Today while we were waiting for my sister in law and her husband to come visit, we were bored so we started doing a little dance to the music Jason was listening to on his phone, and Reagan was just sitting there staring at us. Then, all of the sudden, she starts cracking up! We just about died. It was the funniest thing I have ever seen and heard. It is so rewarding to finally be laughed at after all these weeks of acting crazy just to get her to crack a smile! It is such a cute little belly laugh, and even more hilarious is the fact that she scares herself a little bit when she laughs. After she's done, she'll sit there for a second with this wide eyed terrified look on her face. Haha. She's so funny. I love her!
p.s. We tried to capture it on camera, but the minute we stick a camera in her face she freezes and just stares at the strange new device that we are holding. We'll keep working on it. But she really looks like Buddha! (waaay cuter though)

What a rough life

My friend Amanda took this picture while we were out walking at Boulevard Park on Wednesday. #1 She is a really good photographer. I'm lucky to have a friend who can take beautiful pictures of my baby. #2 Look at that scowl! This is the look she has for pretty much everybody when we're out in public. And she's such a smiley baby too, but I guess I'm just lucky that she saves it all for me...?

Baby News

So...I figured I would update this, since I don't do it often enough. But I have a good excuse...little Reagan! She has been taking up all of my time lately, and I absolutely love it! She is now 8 weeks old (I'm confused about the whole weeks vs. months thing...like eight weeks is not two months? Hm...), about 14 pounds, and soooo long. I actually didn't realize how big she was until I saw some babies on Sunday that were like six months plus, whom she is either bigger than or almost as big as! Whoa...we've got a giant baby on our hands. Haha, giant but adorable. And she really doesn't look all that giant at all. She's so much fun! She has developed quite the personality. Not to brag, but she loves Jason and me. She will follow us with her eyes all around the room if we are not right next to her at all times. She is smiling more and more at us, and is right on the verge of giggling...I'm not sure when they start laughing, so she might be doing this for months and months, but it's still fun. She is also the wiggliest baby we know! It doesn't surprise me since she was doing Tae Bo in my stomach all the time, but she is always moving around and kicking and punching, and has even hit her daddy in the face a couple of times. She acts all innocent, but we're pretty sure she had been planning her attack for days. She's also doing the whole tongue sticking out thing: we'll stick our tongue out at her, looking like idiots, and she'll do it right back. She thinks it's hilarious. One of her favorite things is when we "talk" to her (ie: la la, ba ba, da da) and make silly faces, and she tries to do them right back. It just ends up sounding like a raspy "ah-goo," but is pretty cute. You can tell she's dying to communicate, I can't wait for her to be able to do it more. She actually seems frustrated right now, because she knows what she wants, but just doesn't know how to communicate it yet. As for sleeping habits, she has surprised us a few times and given us an eight hour night sleep, but most nights she wakes up once at around 4 or 4:30 and goes back to bed til about eight. Needless to say, I am still pretty tired, but it's getting better and better. I love being Reagan's mom. I can't believe that I ever thought anything else would make me this happy. Being a mom is the most rewarding thing I have ever done, and I feel as if I'm in my dream job - I can't imagine liking anything more than cuddling and talking with her, and teaching her new things. We love her so much! It's been so fun for me to watch Jason with her. He has become the best dad, not that I didn't think he was going to, but he has definitely exceeded my expectations. He loves her so much and she loves him. Sometimes he won't give her up! And most of the time when she's crying and I can't figure out what's wrong, I'll hand her to Jason, and she immediately stops, her eyes light up, and she's calm again... I don't like to admit it but she apparently loves him just as much as me! All in all, we couldn't ask for a happier, more laid back baby. I'll try not to get used to this though because I doubt all of our kids will be this good...cross your fingers!
In other news...we are moving into a condo that my family purchased right down the road from where we are living now in September. It's super nice and we are excited. I can't wait, except for the packing and moving part...I should probably get started on that. We love living here, we love our ward, love living by my family, love it all! I hope we never have to move, but we'll see. The further Jason gets into his major, the more I am realizing that jobs could likely take us anywhere, but that's alright, as long as Ive got my two babies by my side!
In August, Jason's sister Katelyn and her husband Kaden are coming to visit. Jason's mom just got done visiting us for Reagan's blessing, and it was fun. We can't wait to show them around Bellingham/Ferndale. And the most exciting news of all... we leave for Hawaii at the end of August to drop Haley off at school! We are so excited...should be interesting travelling with a baby, but it will be a good experience. I am looking forward to sunning, surfing, hiking, chilling...all the best that Hawaii has to offer!
Work is going great, and although it is definitely not our dream job and one we do not want to have forever, it is flexible and not too hard and probably pays better than it should! It's great being so close to my family - they have helped us out so much and I couldn't be more grateful!

p.s. We have to take Reagan in next week for her two month check up...that means shots...yuck! Does anyone have any tips (other than baby Tyenol) for making it bearable for her? It's probably going to be harder for me than for her, but it just makes me so sad! any advice would be appreciated.

Our little comedian

Our little girl is so great - she pulls the funniest faces. This is one where we caught her right before she fell asleep. Even if it is just gas, we thought it was pretty cute. She reminds us of Great Grandpa Pratt here.
