California Love

After waking up at 3:45 am to make our flight this morning, we are finally home! It has been a very eventful, but exhausting week, and it feels so good to be back to the familiar. Although, I am sad to be leaving lots of family and fun behind in California. We had a blast down at the wedding and Disneyland. I am tired to say the least, but lots of fun memories were made. It's always a good time when the Pratt's get together, and even more fun now that we've added Lisa to the bunch.
We spent the first couple of days at Disneyland. I can't say that it's the "Happiest Place on Earth" for a curious 14 month old, but we did our best to stay cool and entertained. There were actually quite a few rides that Reagan was able to go on with me. Her favorite was the Haunted Mansion, of all things. She waved to all the ghosts, and I think was mostly happy just to be in a dark, cool, air conditioned place. We all got nice sunburns in places I didn't even know you could get sunburned. My parents were an unbelievable help to me on this trip, always helping with Reagan and taking her on the more "mild" rides so that I could go on some fun ones with my siblings and cousins. I am so grateful to them for everything they did for me on this trip!
My favorite day of the whole trip was Saturday, when I got to go support my cousin Logan and dear friend Lisa as they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Los Angeles temple. I joked with them that it was the happiest day of my life, but in all reality it really was one of my happiest! I love them both so much. They are both two of my best friends, and are the most perfect, cutest couple. It was neat to see how many people were at their sealing, and all the support that they have. Lisa is a "pioneer" in her family. In other words, the first person to be baptized (although I'm certain there will be more in time because she has been such a great example). She is such a strong young woman and I am so blessed to know her! She has been such an example to me of dedication to the gospel and standing up for what you believe in. It has helped strengthen my testimony.
Lisa, of course, looked absolutely gorgeous for the occasion. Her hair, her dress, everything was perfect. Logan is a lucky man! Reagan got to be one of the flower girls in their ring ceremony. She looked beautiful and I was such a proud mom. She is growing up more and more each day. It makes me a little sad at times, but our bond grows closer each day as well, so it is worth it. She has been talking so much! She is such a little copycat, and will try to say almost anything you tell her to. One of her first words was "hi" and she probably said it thousands of times on this trip. She is so friendly that it's almost embarrassing at times, because I am not as friendly and outgoing as she is! At Disneyland and the airport, every single person we walked by she would have to say "hi" (sounds like "hiiiiiiyeeeeeee!") until they said it back. She cracks me up. She also started saying "crazy" on this trip. Which would sum up her behavior half of the time due to lack of sleep, so it was a perfect word to learn.
I had my hands full on this trip, and am so grateful that my fabulous "photographer uncle" Ernie took some pictures of us to document the trip (we love you Ernie, you're our favorite!) My dad also took a lot of Disneyland and the wedding that I'll post this week when I get a chance.

My cute grandparents whom I look up to so much, at Disneyland. They rode all of the "scary" rides with the kids! What daredevils!

My best friends, my parents! They look so young and cute. Reagan adores them.

Bumpah and Penny at Disneyland after a looooong day. Reagan was just in a t-shirt and diaper by this point in the day, after playing in the Bug's Life water park fully clothed. We had to stop at a shop and buy her a shirt. It was just a plain t-shirt that said "Disneyland" on the front, and had some princesses on the back. We took it up to the counter, thinking it would be $8 or so...wrong. Silly me, I am an inexperienced Disneyland go-er. It was $27!! For probably 50 cents worth of fabric. Oh my.

Sister Haley and me at some kind of Disney Pier, I think?

The beautiful flower girl and I at the wedding. We were so sweaty!

Killing time in the sweltering heat, waiting for the newly married couple to make their grand exit out of the temple.

Introducing the most beautiful couple I know...Mr. and Mrs. Logan and Lisa Pratt! Congratulations you guys! We were so happy to be there to share your day with you!

Ba-Gubby

"Ba-Gubby" is what my sister Haley called spaghetti when she was little. Reagan reminds me of a little Haley in so many ways! The curly mullet, the "words" she says, etc. To say that I've been having a very difficult time trying to get Reagan to eat would be a serious understatement. People often comment that it doesn't look like she's starving, and I know that, but it has been causing me a lot of stress. I go to great lengths trying to offer her lots of different foods, different textures, lots of healthy choices, and time after time after time she just downright refuses to eat anything. I can always count on string cheese, but a girl needs more than cheese to grow up healthy and strong (although some people may disagree with me)! Anyway, I have made spaghetti before and she did eat some, but was pretty apathetic about it. The other night, I was searching through the cupboards trying to find something to make for dinner, and realized we were out of spaghetti noodles but did have macaroni. Jason informed me that it's called "goulash" but I made a simple meal of some macaroni noodles, pasta sauce, and ground turkey, and the girl DEVOURED it. I mean she STUFFED herself. She sat in her high chair for a good hour and a half just shoving handfuls of the stuff in her mouth. It was such a relief. I just about cried tears of joy. It was a Goulash Miracle. I was so happy about it I had to take pictures of her adorable messy face. She is just so sweet. With all that spaghetti sauce, we were almost tempted to nibble on her for dinner!

If her legs look freakishly long in this picture, it's because they are. She grows inches every day, I swear. Her legs are sooooo long - lucky!

This is the face she makes when the flash goes off.

Action shot

Cutest little face I have ever seen. Those eyes! That button nose!

Jason wanted me to caption this picture with something about getting the munchies. Totally inappropriate.

All clean, hair combed, lotion on, ready to do some deep cleaning of her own!

I smile every time I see our shoes lined up next to each other like this. It makes me so happy.

California on Wednesday for Logan and Lisa's wedding! Can't wait!
Now I'm going to attempt sleep in this sauna we call our home. I'm thinking about sleeping in the shower or the freezer. I'll let you know how it goes.

Old Settlers Parade

On Saturday we braved the heat and went to the Old Settler's Parade in Ferndale. I have been going to this with my family since I was just a kid, so we wanted to share all the excitement with Reagan. Reagan however, once she got her hands on some candy, couldn't have cared less about the parade. An occasional dog would walk by, and she would bark. She waved at a couple "pretty princesses," but mostly she wanted to sit and eat her candy, drink her root beer (a little sugar never hurt anyone!) and spontaneously decide that the road was a better place to be than the sidewalk. Maybe she'll be a little more interested next year?

The gang

Bumpah being silly with orange teeth

She didn't love the loud sirens from the fire engines. Nana had to protect her.

I wish we would have gotten a better picture of this, but see that golf cart right there in the middle of the road? In the passenger seat is Steve, the man that has lived with my parents for 22 years that has Down's Syndrome. He LOVES Ferndale High School, and is probably their biggest fan when it comes to football and the band. For years, he has gotten to "lead" the band in the Old Settler's Parade. We were so proud of him. Sometimes I get jealous because it seems as though EVERYONE in Ferndale knows Steve. Anytime we're with him there are always people waving at us, honking their horns, and yelling "Hey Steve!" out their windows. I am guessing that's what it feels like to be a celebrity. Or, in my case, a groupie.

p.s. The heat this day was miserable and continues to get even more so. I almost can't stand it. We all came away with some good-lookin' farmers tans. I have to say that I am excited for winter. Yeah, I said it.

Identity Crisis

She started saying her name recently, so I tried to catch it on video. Can't say she said it perfectly, but it makes me laugh. The first time it sounds like she says "Breydan" (her cousin), second time it sounds like "Baghdad." Then it turns to "Dada"...then "Elmo"...and ends with "I love you." Silly girl!

Lately, this is the face she pulls if I try to feed her instead of her feeding herself. She is getting pretty good with the spoon and even fork, but it's hard for me to watch food fly everywhere, since most of our house is carpeted. Oh well! She keeps us on our toes!

Tribute to MJ

Reagan took this picture of her feet the other day while playing with my phone in the car. I thought it a fitting Michael Jackson tribute.

July 5th, 1982...

was the day that Jason Nicholas Wilson entered the world. And thank goodness he did. I will never be able to love another human being the way that I love Jason, and I don't think another human being would be able to put up with me the way he does.
His birthday fell on a Sunday this year, so we had a delicious dinner with my family of literally all of Jason's favorite food: meatloaf, stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, spinach and raspberry salad, and bread pudding for dessert. I must say, it was quite delicious. Jason's got good taste in food, although sometimes I think he should have grown up in the South or something. Love this guy so much. And I love him even more watching Reagan's love for him - the way she looks at him when he reads to her, the way she hugs him around the neck so tight when she's scared, the way she "pats" his cheeks - she's got this adoration for him that is unmistakable and different from the love she has for anyone else. Today, we were taking a walk in the cemetery while Jason was at work. She proceeded to pick up almost every single pine cone on the ground, handing it to me and saying "dadaaaaah." I asked her if she wanted to give these to her dada, and she followed with an enthusiastic "yeah" and a nod of her head. So tonight, we made a pile of pine cones on dada's nightstand just for him. We can't wait to see the look on his face tomorrow morning when he gets home from work and sees his treasure.
You always hear about how your relationship will change "after the baby comes" and the "honeymoon'll be over." I just can't agree with these statements. I loved Jason before we had Reagan, but I wasn't even prepared for how I would feel about him after she entered our lives. He is now not just my husband, but he's Reagan's dada, and my partner in making sure she will always know how loved she is. He tells her she is beautiful all the time, and I can't think of anything better to hear from a daddy. I love you Jason. Happy late Birthday! (in the blog world. Don't worry, I told him happy birthday in person on his actual birthday too.)

Whitney and Sawyer

Remember how in one of my last posts I wrote how excited I was for my best friend Whitney to have her baby girl? Well, Sawyer Joy Easton was born June 29th. Whitney was so lucky to have her come early! I mean seriously, who does that happen to? Well, probably plenty of people, just not me. I'll work on it next time around. Sawyer is absolutely beautiful! She looks a lot like Whitney's side of the family to me, and has the most luscious dark hair I have ever seen on a baby! I am so proud of Whitney for giving birth to this tiny precious miracle. She is such a good mom already. It was so fun receiving text updates throughout her birthing process. I stayed up all night long the night before, because I was afraid I would miss something important. Giving birth is such an amazing thing - I hope that someday I'll be able to watch a friend's or sister's birth. It just fascinates me! Anyways, congratulations Whitney for adding little Sawyer to your home. And congratulations Sawyer for being so cute and for having a mom like Whit. Love you guys. And can't wait to see you on the 13th!

Is this not the most beautiful picture you've ever seen??

And yes, this is Whitney, literally days (maybe even hours) after giving birth. I am fully aware that I have the most beautiful friend that ever existed. I envy her ability to bounce-back and look so normal so quickly, something that I will never be able to attain!
